Upcoming events at the Turchin Center

The Turchin Center for the Visual Arts at Appalachian State University provides a home for world-class visual arts exhibitions and programming. It is the largest facility of its kind in the region and its seven galleries host changing exhibitions featuring local, regional, national and international artists.

As your students begin fall semester, we want to make sure all parents and students know about the art workshops at the Turchin Center. Not only are the workshops FREE for Appalachian students, but all supplies are provided. These workshops are a great time to relax, be creative and connect with friends old and new.

Art workshops include:

  • Trash to Treasure (Mondays, 6 - 8 p.m.)

  • Open Studio (Wednesdays and Thursdays, 6 - 8 p.m.)

  • Inkalicious: Alcohol inks (Fridays, 10:30 – noon)

For those interested in nurturing the soul, yoga and tai chi workshops are held in the art galleries. Imagine being surrounded by amazing art exploring mental and physical balance.

  • Tai Chi (Tuesdays, 5 – 6 p.m.)

  • Yoga (Saturdays, 10:30 – 11:30 a.m.)

Visit: https://tcva.appstate.edu/workshops for schedule and details (not all classes occur each week due to university academic and athletic schedules).

We hope you encourage your students to take advantage of all that the Turchin has to offer. And please come visit the next time you are in town to experience the power and excitement of the visual arts. Visit https://tcva.org/ for more information.
