Appalachian Food Services is the Largest Employer of Students on Campus

Students are the backbone of Appalachian State University, and at Appalachian Food Services, we rely on our student employees to keep operations running smoothly. With over 800 hires per academic year, Food Services is the largest on-campus student employer.

The majority of our prep departments and dining venues offer student positions, including:

  • Vegetable Prep
  • Bake Shop
  • Kitchen prep
  • Servers
  • Cashiers
  • Catering staff

and more!

Our student employees have the opportunity to earn, learn and grow while gaining valuable resume experience. We offer flexible schedules, so that students can balance academics and other extracurricular activities as well as semesterly raises and promotion opportunities.

We ask students employees to commit to a minimum of 9 hours each week. Additionally, students select shifts that fit with their schedule – 1 hour up to 5 hours.
