Academics

Getting Started

All new freshmen entering Appalachian begin their academic careers in University College where they are provided academicadvising, supplemental instruction, disability services, and tutoring. Each new student is assigned an academic advisor to help your student choose the right classes, decide on a major, and understand academic policies. Academic Advisors can help struggling students get back on track or help connect them to the many campus resources and support services. Once a student declares a major, he or she will be advised by the college advisor.

The Basics

Course Offerings

The Published Schedule of Classes is available as a complete document (viewable or printable) or as separate documents selected by department name. In addition, two search routines are provided to assist in checking class availability. These links are available on the Student Services page in AppalNET.

Grade Reports

At the end of the semester, students may view and print their grade report from the Student Services menu in AppalNET.

Academic Standing

Grades are reported at the end of each semester. Students must attain grade point averages according to the hours attempted ranges below in order to remain in academic "good standing" at Appalachian. • After 16-30 Attempted Hours (and thereafter) - 2.00
