Driving to Campus

Sunway Charters
The Sunway Charters (opens in a new tab) coach line makes round trip bus routes daily (7 days/week) as far east as Greensboro, and as far south as Charlotte and back to Boone. The bus line makes several stops along the way in other NC cities. Hickory Hop
The Hickory Hop (opens in a new tab) is an airport shuttle between Appalachian State University and the Charlotte Airport. The fees per student are $120 round trip or $70 one way. AppalCART
AppalCART (opens in a new tab) has twelve different bus routes designed to get you anywhere you need to be in Boone. All of these routes are fare free, allowing for simple navigation without needing to worry about cost. Boone Taxi

Ridesharing
- Share the Ride NC (opens in a new tab) is a statewide ride-matching service sponsored by the NCDOT. This free and secure website helps commuters find carpool partners to share the cost of driving. Appalachian students, staff, and faculty have the choice to match with other Mountaineers or with affiliates throughout the UNC system.
- Many students rely on formal and informal ride-sharing services, which are increasing in popularity in Boone and elsewhere. If your student chooses to use a ride sharing service, make sure they are taking these safety precautions (opens in a new tab).

Parking On Campus
Visitor Parking During Normal Business Hours
During normal business hours (7:00am - 5:00pm) visitors are required to park in the Rivers Street Parking Deck. This facility is located on Rivers Street, between Harper Hall and Garwood Hall at 461 Rivers Street, Boone, NC 28607. Look for the pedestrian bridge over Rivers Street, as it is part of this parking deck.

Visitor Parking After Normal Business Hours
After 5:00pm on weekdays and at all times on the weekends visitors may park free of charge in any campus parking lot, except for Rivers Street Parking Deck, unless otherwise posted.
Visitor vehicles parked on campus lots over a weekend must be removed before 7:00am Monday morning. All vehicles parked overnight during the work week must be removed before 7:00am the next day.
