Learning Assistance Program (LAP) is now Student Learning Center

Learning Center

Dear members of the Appalachian Community:

The Learning Assistance Program (LAP) is now the Student Learning Center. We remain located on the second floor of D.D. Dougherty Hall. The Center is comprised of University Tutorial Services, Academic Strategy Instruction, As-U-R, and holistic Academic Advising of three student groups including ACCESS (Appalachian Commitment to College Education and Student Success), SSS (Student Support Services), and ASA (Academic Services for Student-Athletes).

The new graphic was created by Wes Waugh, in coordination with the University Communications design team. It recognizes one of our university founders, Dauphin Disco Dougherty, and our lobby and entrance will soon include elements that reflect the history of D.D. Dougherty’s contributions to Appalachian State University. Fittingly, the Latin meaning of Disco is - to learn.

Please review any publications or website information that includes Learning Assistance Program (LAP) and change to Student Learning Center. Thanks for your support in helping announce this exciting change!

Sincerely,
Student Learning Center Staff
